Icing on the Cake: A Sweet Surface for Your Letters

Translate your lettering into edible art using sugar plaques! You will learn how to convert sugar paste into your “paper” and create edible toppers. You can apply what you learn for years to come to decorate cakes, pies and other desserts that you bake yourself or that you purchase, all without having to work directly on the tart and with the wonderful added ability of working ahead of time.

We will explore painting letters on sugar, and you will learn basic sculpting with sugar.

In addition, Andrea will demonstrate how to make royal icing and how to pipe with it. Under her skillful guidance, you will have the opportunity to try writing with it.

Note: We will be working in class with edible materials. This workshop will be held in a classroom, and not in a kitchen and under sanitary conditions. Thus the work you create in class will NOT be for eating, so please do not eat the sugar paste we create together. You will apply common sense sanitary rules at home.
